Awesome food, service and atmosphere. We had the double cheeseburger Nd the fried chicken sandwich. Both were spectacular. The sauce on the chicken sandwich was amazing. Servers are the best. Super nice, warm, welcoming and professional. A must gonin DC.

Fantastic experience - I will definitely be back! Service was friendly and food was delicious. I love the inventive takes on traditional diner food. All are contemporary New American, Modern European, or Asian Fusion remixes of traditional American food. I loved the Mac N Cheese, the Salmon, and the Kale Nachos (everything I had). The cocktails were great, too!

As I’ve only been in DC for a few months that were ravaged by Covid, I have done two take out dinners from here. They both have been excellent. We did the fried chicken dinner one night that was easily two meals for each of us and the Arabian nights meal which is vegetarian...hummus, rice, falafel oh my!

The recent take out deals are outstanding! I've tried the fried chicken dinner and the Arabian Nights dinner and both were great food at a great value. For the fried chicken the chicken was perfectly fried and spiced with just a little heat and the mashed potatoes and biscuits were amazing. The Arabian Nights features the standout Lebanese Fried Rice from the usual menu and it's as excellent as always. The accompanying sides are also delicious (however the lebneh deserves a particular shoutout). Overall, highly recommend and I look forward to ordering takeout from Unconventional Diner again soon.

Credit due to unconventional diner to living up to its name. I ordered the roast beef French dip and it came out as a layered bowl of French fries, roast beef, mushrooms and a heavy gravy touched off with a fried egg which is a theme for many dishes. Surprisingly, it did taste like a French dip. The restaurant is quite spacious and is accessible though its own door by part of the Convention Center or related buildings. My French dip meal was filling if not heavy with the gravy. The theme here seems to be a continuous brunch. Staff were friendly and helpful. A good brunch option and they serve booze so you can enjoy that that.
